Boring Insurance Agency
A florist’s workroom, buckets of cut stems on the floor and a bench strewn with wrapping paper, shears and ribbon spools, the misted glass of a walk-in cooler behind
Buckets full. Bench working. Cooler misted.A cooler that fails overnight is spoilage, and spoilage is an endorsement rather than a given.

Perishable stock, a delivery van, and a wedding that only happens once.

We cover flower shops and event florists for refrigeration and spoilage, the delivery vehicles, and the installation work that puts you inside somebody else’s venue.

/ Coverage

What florist businesses actually need.

Stock and spoilage

Perishable stock, and refrigeration failure that destroys it.

Without it — Flowers are the inventory and they have a shelf life of days.

Commercial auto

Delivery vehicles, and staff cars used for deliveries.

Without it — Personal auto excludes business use, and delivery is the business.

General liability

Shop injuries, and damage at venues during installation.

Without it — Venues require a certificate before you may install.

Installation exposure

Arches, hanging arrangements and structures you build on site.

Without it — Anything suspended above guests is a different order of risk.

Business property

Coolers, displays, vases and the shop fit-out.

Without it — The walk-in cooler is the most expensive thing in the building.

Crime and social engineering

Stock and cash going out the back door, and a wholesaler invoice paid to a changed account.

Without it — A deposit wired to somebody posing as the wedding venue is not burglary, and your property policy does not answer it. Ask specifically for social engineering.

Group health and benefits

Designers whose work is the reason a bride chose you.

Without it — Floral design is a portfolio skill. When the designer leaves, the portfolio that sold the wedding leaves too.

/ Questions

What our florist clients ask us.

Is spoilage really worth insuring?

For a florist, yes, and more than for most retailers. Your entire inventory is perishable and depends on a single cooler, so a compressor failure over a weekend or a power interruption before a busy holiday can write off everything you hold at the moment you most need it. Spoilage coverage normally sits with equipment breakdown and often includes losses from power outage, which is worth confirming rather than assuming.

What about wedding and event work?

It adds two exposures the shop alone does not have. First, venue requirements. Most will want a certificate naming them as an additional insured before you install. Second, the installations themselves: arches, suspended arrangements and anything structural above guests carry a genuine injury risk and are worth mentioning at quote rather than describing yourself simply as a retail florist.

Do drivers need to be on a commercial policy?

Yes, and if staff use their own cars you also need hired and non-owned auto. A personal policy excludes business use, so a delivery driver in their own vehicle can be uninsured at the moment of an accident and the claim comes to you. Given the number of short trips a florist makes on holiday weekends, this is a frequency exposure worth getting right.

Hired and non-owned auto

Commercial insurance is 96% of what we do — it is not a department here, it is the whole business. Not ready to talk? The guides answer the questions this page raises in more depth. Already insured with us and need a certificate or a policy change? Ask the service team rather than starting a quote — it is faster and it goes to the people whose job it is. We also write home and auto, which is usually cheaper alongside the business policy than apart from it.
