Privacy policy

The short version

We collect what you type into the quote form, plus web analytics and advertising measurement. We use it to quote and service your insurance and to learn which of our ads bring in enquiries. We send it to the insurance carriers and wholesalers we approach on your behalf, to the software we run the agency on, and to Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to measure and improve our advertising. We do not sell it, and we do not send it to lead networks. You can opt out of the advertising sharing at any time, as described under Your choices.

That last point is worth stating plainly because it is the norm in this industry and not what we do: some sites that look like an agency are lead generators that sell your details to several agencies at once. This one is an agency. Your enquiry goes to our own licensed agents.

What we collect

From the quote form, in two steps. The first step asks for your business name, email address, an optional phone number, and what you need help with. The second step is optional and asks for your state, the coverages you are interested in, a contact name, your current carrier, and your renewal date.

Automatically, we record the page you submitted from and any campaign parameters on it (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, gclid and fbclid) so we can tell which marketing actually produces enquiries. Our servers log your IP address, as effectively all web servers do.

Through analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to count pages and measure how far people get through the form. It is configured without advertising features and without ad personalisation, so what Google Analytics measures is not shared with advertising networks and is not used to build an advertising profile of you.

Through advertising measurement, we use the Meta Pixel, a script from Meta Platforms, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It records which pages of this site you visit and, when you send us an enquiry, that an enquiry was made. It sets Meta cookies in your browser and sends those events to Meta along with your IP address and browser details. The pixel itself does not send what you type into our forms. It never loads if you have opted out, as described under Your choices.

When you send an enquiry, our own systems also tell Meta about it directly, so the count is accurate even when a browser blocks the pixel. That message carries your email address and phone number in hashed form (scrambled one way, so the details themselves are not sent), along with your IP address, browser details and the Meta cookie values. Meta uses it to match the enquiry to an ad. We do not send it if you have opted out.

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry, prepare quotes, place and service coverage, and meet the record-keeping obligations that come with being a licensed insurance agency. To route your enquiry to the agent who handles your class of business. To understand which pages and campaigns bring in real enquiries.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you. A licensed person reads what you send.

Who we share it with

We share what is necessary, with these categories of recipient:

• Insurance carriers, wholesalers and general agents, when we market your risk to them. The core purpose is simple: we cannot get you a quote without telling an underwriter about your business.
• Our agency management and CRM software, which stores your record so we can service it.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which run this website.
• Google Analytics, for the aggregate site measurement described above.
• Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), for advertising. Meta receives the page visits and enquiry events described above, and hashed contact details of people who have contacted us or are our clients, so we can measure our ads and find similar businesses to show them to. Under California law this is sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you can opt out of it under Your choices.
• Regulators, auditors and professional advisers, or anyone else, where the law requires it.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not pass your enquiry to lead networks or to other agencies. We do not send Meta, or any other advertising company, what you tell us about your business or your insurance. Meta receives only the events and hashed contact details described above.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become policies are kept while they are still commercially useful and then deleted. Records connected to a policy we placed are kept for as long as the policy is in force and afterwards for the period our regulatory and professional obligations require, which is generally several years after the policy ends.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time, and we will. Email us and say what you want. There is no form to fill in.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information. We do share it with Meta for cross-context behavioral advertising, as described above, and you can opt out.

To opt out, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information button on this page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we treat as the same request. Either way, this site stops loading the Meta Pixel in that browser and our systems do not tell Meta about an enquiry you send from it. The button works per browser, so if you use more than one, use it in each, or email us and we will also keep your contact details out of anything we send Meta.

One honest complication: much of what an insurance agency holds about you is financial information governed by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and information covered by GLBA is treated differently under the CCPA. Rather than use that as a reason to say no, our position is simply that if you ask us for your information or ask us to delete it, we will do what we can and tell you plainly about anything we are required to keep.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Access to the agency systems holding your record is restricted to our staff. No system is perfectly secure and we will not claim otherwise.

Children

This is a commercial insurance site intended for businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes, and how to reach us

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than slipped in.
