Chair down. Lamp off. Tray laid for the morning.Dental is the benefit staff actually use, which is exactly why it is priced on usage.

The cheapest benefit on the sheet, and the one employees notice missing first.

We place group dental for employers of any size, in PPO, DHMO and employee-paid voluntary structures, typically at a fraction of the cost of the medical plan.

/ Coverage

What group dental insurance actually covers.

Preventive

Cleanings, exams and x-rays, usually at 100% and outside the deductible.

Without it — Employees skip the visit that would have caught the expensive problem.

Basic and major

Fillings and extractions; then crowns, bridges and dentures at a lower coinsurance.

Without it — A single crown costs more than a year of premium.

Orthodontia

Usually a separate lifetime maximum, often limited to dependent children.

Without it — The benefit employees with teenagers ask about most is absent.

What clients with group dental insurance ask us.

What does group dental cost an employer?

Commonly $25 to $45 per employee per month for a PPO plan, and less for a DHMO, roughly a tenth of the medical premium, which is why it is usually the first benefit added after health and the last one cut. Many employers cover the employee tier in full and let staff buy up for dependents. A voluntary plan, where employees pay the whole premium through payroll, costs the employer nothing at all and still gets group pricing and guaranteed issue.

What is the annual maximum and why is it so low?

Most plans cap what they will pay at $1,000 to $2,000 per person per year, a figure that has barely moved since the 1970s and is the most common complaint about dental coverage. It is a budget cap rather than catastrophic insurance. Dental plans are designed to make routine care free and expensive care cheaper, not to cover it. If your population is likely to need major work, the plan design worth comparing is a higher maximum with a longer waiting period on major services, which is usually cheaper than it sounds.

Commercial insurance is 96% of what we do — it is not a department here, it is the whole business. Not ready to talk? The guides answer the questions this page raises in more depth. Already insured with us and need a certificate or a policy change? Ask the service team rather than starting a quote — it is faster and it goes to the people whose job it is. We also write home and auto, which is usually cheaper alongside the business policy than apart from it.
