Boring Insurance Agency

A trucking program built around telematics, and the camera is the deal.

CoverWhale prices commercial auto around driver monitoring. For a carrier who cannot get quoted elsewhere it is a genuine route to cover, and a commitment worth understanding before you sign.

One licensed human replies the same business day — not five agents, not an auto-responder. If the policy you have is already the right one, we will tell you.

We use this to quote and service your insurance, and we do not sell it or pass it to lead networks. Privacy policy.

Your current policy paperwork, a renewal notice, or nothing at all. A licensed agent reads it and replies the same business day.

/ Coverage

What CoverWhale is for.

Commercial auto for trucking

Liability for motor carriers, underwritten with telematics and in-cab camera data as part of the deal.

Without it — For an operation that struggles to get quoted, a market that prices the driving rather than the loss history is a real option.

The monitoring commitment

Cameras and driver scoring are a condition, not an option, and the data affects the account through the term.

Without it — Know this before you bind. It is the whole basis of the pricing and it is not something to discover afterwards.

/ Questions

What people ask us about CoverWhale.

Which company actually issues the policy?

One of several, and it is worth knowing which is on yours. Cover Whale underwrites on A-rated paper from a panel — Accredited, Ascot, Canopius, Everspan, Knight, Lloyd’s, SCOR and Trisura among them — and matches your risk to one of those insurers. The name on your declarations page, and on every certificate you issue, will be that carrier rather than Cover Whale. It matters twice: a broker querying an unfamiliar carrier name can hold up a load, and at claim time the insurer is the party obliged to pay, whoever administers the file day to day.

Accredited Specialty, one of the companies behind it

Is CoverWhale an insurance company?

It is a program and managing general agent: they underwrite and service, and an insurance company behind them carries the risk. Ask which carrier is on the declarations page.

Who actually pays the claim?

Not the name on the marketing. A program or managing general agent underwrites, prices and services the policy, and an insurance company behind them carries the risk, so the financial strength that matters is theirs, not the brand you bought from. Ask which carrier is on the declarations page before you compare ratings.

Will they write a new authority, or a hot shot?

Both, and that combination is genuinely uncommon: most markets that tolerate new authority carve hot shot out of it, and most that write hot shot want two years of authority first. Cover Whale writes hot shot across Class 2 through Class 8 and takes new authority. One thing gets conflated constantly, including by carriers’ own front-line staff: their two-year minimum is about driver experience on like equipment, not about how old your MC number is. A driver with five years behind the same class of truck and an authority granted last month is a normal risk here.

Who is it right for?

A motor carrier who is having trouble getting quoted and is willing to run cameras and be scored on driving. If you are already getting competitive standard-market quotes, you probably do not need this.

What should I understand before binding?

That the monitoring is the product. Driver behavior data is collected through the term and it can affect your pricing and your renewal, so the safety program has to be real rather than a box ticked at inception.

Why go through a broker instead of buying direct?

Because it does not cost you anything, which is the part that surprises people. Broker compensation is built into the carrier’s rate whether you use one or not: buying direct does not remove the cost, it removes the person being paid to be on your side of it.

The other five reasons, and what it costs you

Commercial insurance is 96% of what we do — it is not a department here, it is the whole business. Not ready to talk? The guides answer the questions this page raises in more depth. Already insured with us and need a certificate or a policy change? Ask the service team rather than starting a quote — it is faster and it goes to the people whose job it is. We also write home and auto, which is usually cheaper alongside the business policy than apart from it.
