Another name that arrives on a policy you bought from someone else.
Accredited Specialty is fronting paper behind program business — including trucking placed through Cover Whale — which is why it appears on declarations pages belonging to people who have never heard of it.

What Accredited Specialty is.
Program paper
Accredited provides the licensed insurance company behind programs designed and distributed by others. In trucking it is one of the carriers Cover Whale places on.
Without it — It is the answer to "who is Accredited and why are they on my policy".
What it means for a claim
The carrier on the policy is the party obliged to pay, whoever sold it and whoever handles the file day to day. Claims are usually administered by the program manager under the carrier’s authority.
Without it — Knowing who is obliged, versus who answers the phone, matters exactly once and matters a lot.
Certificates name the carrier
A certificate of insurance names the insurance company, not the program brand — so the name a shipper or broker sees may not be the one you expect.
Without it — A broker querying an unfamiliar carrier name can hold up a load.
What people ask us about Accredited.
Who is Accredited Specialty and why are they on my trucking policy?
They are the licensed insurance company standing behind a program you bought under another brand — in trucking, most often Cover Whale. This is a normal and deliberate structure rather than a sign that anything is wrong. The practical consequences are small but real: the carrier name is what goes on certificates and what a claimant sues, so it is worth being able to recognize it.
How do I check a carrier I have never heard of?
Two things are worth knowing and both are public. First, the financial strength rating — AM Best is the usual reference, and most program paper carries an A- or better, which is the threshold many contracts require. Second, whether the policy is admitted in your state. Ask for both in writing before binding; any broker should produce them without hesitating.
Why go through a broker instead of buying direct?
Because it does not cost you anything, which is the part that surprises people. Broker compensation is built into the carrier’s rate whether you use one or not — buying direct does not remove the cost, it removes the person being paid to be on your side of it.
