Hands-on treatment of a minor, in a school, with no parent in the room.
Insurance for physical and occupational therapists — clinic and school-based practice, the abuse and molestation limits district contracts require, and where an individual policy stops matching a practice.

What physical therapist insurance actually covers.
School-based practice
Districts name occupational and physical therapists among the independent consultants required to carry sexual misconduct and molestation cover — Santa Ana Unified does so explicitly. Treatment is hands-on and the patient is a minor, which is the combination underwriters price. California districts increasingly ask $3,000,000 per occurrence and $6,000,000 aggregate — Azusa Unified and Lawndale Elementary both do for work with children. Elsewhere $1M/$2M and $2M/$4M are the common asks. Read the aggregate as well as the per-occurrence number: it is the one that fails first.
Without it — The contract does not begin, and the individual policy that serves the clinic side does not carry the limit the school side requires.
The practice that outgrew the practitioner
An individual professional liability policy answers for the named therapist. A practice that bills through an entity, employs aides, rents space or signs contracts is a separate legal person, and it is not the insured on that policy.
Without it — A claim naming the company is met by a policy naming a person.
Equipment, premises and the rest
Modalities, exercise equipment and a treatment space bring ordinary general liability and property exposures that an individual malpractice policy does not touch at all.
Without it — A slip in the gym area is uninsured while the clinical work is well covered.
What clients with physical therapist insurance ask us.
Does my association policy satisfy a district requirement?
Usually not for the abuse and molestation line specifically, and that is the line districts care about. Association programs are excellent value for individual clinical liability; they are not written to carry a $1M/$2M or $3M/$6M abuse and molestation indemnity limit. Send us the requirement and your declarations page — we will tell you which parts you already satisfy before you buy anything.
Commercial insurance is 96% of what we do — it is not a department here, it is the whole business. Not ready to talk? The guides answer the questions this page raises in more depth. Already insured with us and need a certificate or a policy change? Ask the service team rather than starting a quote — it is faster and it goes to the people whose job it is. We also write home and auto, which is usually cheaper alongside the business policy than apart from it.
